“One of the Builders of Holyoke with a Genius for Organization and a Citizen of Rare Parts”

  Holyoke Transcript — July 11, 1914

As a founding father of the city of Holyoke, William S. Loomis’s altruism, calculated ambition, and progressive entrepreneurial attitude helped build the city’s library, successfully expand the Holyoke Street Railway, and develop Mt. Tom and Mountain Park into historic landmarks. His business savvy and contributions as the owner of the local newspaper, the vice president of the bank, and donor of the Loomis House showed his dedication to personal success only as a product of Holyoke’s benefit and progress.
