The confirmation program at the Congregational Church of Laconia is an exciting and dynamic one!
Typically, our confirmation program is open to high school youth who are interested in exploring their faith and expanding their understanding of the United Church of Christ. The program begins in September and is completed by mid-spring. Confirmands and their adult mentors (members of the church chosen by the confirmands) meet on a regular basis to ask questions, learn from each other and get to know each other.
Field trips are an important part of the 7-month journey! Participants visit other places of worship including a Catholic church, a Buddhist temple, a Jewish temple and a funeral home. One of the highlights is an overnight service trip where confirmands may be involved in serving a dinner at a homeless shelter, preparing for a book drive, creating gifts for children or attending worship services in an outdoor setting on Boston Common.
At the conclusion of the program, each student is asked to present a project reflecting their personal experience, knowledge and insights. Projects have included scrapbooks, photo albums, Powerpoint presentations, and music.
If you have any questions about our confirmation program and how you might get involved, please speak with our Associate Pastor, Paula Gile at tel. 524-0668 or firstname.lastname@example.org.
CITY MISSION SOCIETY FIELD TRIP
Under the sponsorship of the City Mission Society of Boston members of the confirmation class prepared a meal for the residents of a homeless shelter. Six youth and two adults participated in the weekend field trip to Boston. Activities included listening to the stories of two individuals in a rehabilitation program and participation in an outdoor worship service.
