Holyoke was the home of one of our region’s earliest Jewish communities. Through first-person oral histories, Olivia Davis Mausel has composed a vivid picture of what life was like in the late 19th and early 20th centuries for the city’s Jewish community. A retired teacher, Mausel is a former member of the Holyoke Historical Commission and the Local District Commission. Over the course of more than 20 years, her interest in Holyoke cultural and historical issues spurred her efforts to gather these oral histories. Her brief talk will be followed by a book signing, conversation with the author, and light refreshments. The book is part of The Republican’s Heritage Book series.
Free and open to the public.
The author will have copies of her book to sell and sign.
